Day 2: C-FC boys ease past Hope

Alex Murphy and Reed Willadsen each scored fifteen points as the Cochrane-Fountain City boys basketball team built on a seventeen-point halftime advantage to defeat Hope Lutheran 79-39 at the 29th Annual Lewiston Auto Warrior Club Tournament at McCown Gymnasium on Saturday.

Six different players accumulated at least four rebounds for C-FC, led by Murphy’s seven. Andrew Bremer had six and Mason Baecker five, while Brad Scharlau, Lucas Gabel and Willadsen all had four. Gabel and Baecker also scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The lone bright spot for Hope Lutheran (1-9) was Andrew Fratzke, who followed up a 23-point, eight-rebound performance against Lewiston-Altura on Friday with 18 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks. Hayden Meinke added seven points and Hunter Reed five for the Patriots.

Day 1: Pirates boys cruise past Cougars

The Cochrane-Fountain City boys basketball team corralled 25 offensive rebounds en route to a 63-47 clobbering of Mabel-Canton at the 29th Annual Lewiston Auto Warrior Club Tournament at McCown Gymnasium on Friday.

Alex Murphy led the charge with 11 overall boards, followed by Jonathan Cieminski’s nine and Reed Willadsen with seven.

Cieminski also led C-FC (5-2) with 11 points while Murphy had 10, as 11 players scored at least three points for Pirates.

Wayne Ross set the pace for M-C (5-5) with 10 points, Dustin Kerns added eight and Keyser Wenthold and Donnie Lind both went for seven points, while Lind added a game-high 12 rebounds for the Cougars.
